How To:
How to disable self-defense in Antivirus. This article provides two ways to achieve this goal, either by enabling the end user to change this setting on the client side themselves or disabling self-defense as a whole for this Agent setting through the Ivanti Endpoint Management Console.
Step by Step:
Method 1 - Enable the end user to change setting on the Antivirus client UI themselves.
1. On the Ivanti Endpoint Management Console, locate the Antivirus setting you are using in Tools> Configuration> Agent settings> LANDesk Antivirus, double click to edit the settings.
2. Go to Permissions, Select Allow user to change settings.
3. Save the settings and create a LANDesk Antivirus Task. Go to Agent settings > Create a task > LANDesk Antivirus Task...to create the task.
4. Select the Antivirus setting you just modified. Save the change and assign desired Agents to perform the task.
NOTE: Or a Change Settings task that updates the Antivirus settings could achieve the same goal. For details on this please refer to this article: How To: Change Agent Settings
5. After the task is finished, the end user will be able to modify the self-defense settings in the Antivirus UI.
Method 2 - Disable self-defense as a whole on the core server
1. Locate the Antivirus setting you are using in Tools> Configuration> Agent settings> LANDesk Antivirus, double-clicks to edit the settings.
2. Go to Advanced Settings, deselect Enable self-defense.
NOTE:
If you wanted to disable self-defense for all Agents using this setting, Save this setting directly. If you wish to disable self-defense for a few Agents as a test first, create a new Antivirus setting, and use a LANDesk Antivirus Task or Change Settings task to update to the desired Agents just as method 1 describes.
